Privacy Policy Molecule Identifier (MID)
Last updated: May 2026 · Applicable law: GDPR & LOPDGDD (Spain)
MID (Molecule Identifier) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy describes how we handle personal data in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Spanish Ley Orgánica 3/2018 de Protección de Datos Personales y garantía de los derechos digitales (LOPDGDD).
Data Controller
The entity responsible for processing your personal data is the MID development team, reachable at info@moleculeidentifier.com or via the contact form. Full legal entity details will be published upon formal registration of the service.
Data We Collect and Why
- Email address — collected at registration to create and manage your account and to communicate service-related information.
- Contact form submissions — name, email, and message content, used solely to respond to your inquiry.
- Usage analytics — anonymised event data (e.g. page views, feature interactions) collected to improve the service. No personally identifiable information is included in these events.
- Session cookie — a single functional cookie stored in your browser to maintain your session and protect against cross-site request forgery. It contains no personal data and is not used for tracking.
Scientific data is never stored. Spectra, chemical structures, and any molecular data you submit for analysis are processed in memory and discarded immediately — they are never written to disk, retained in any database, or shared with any third party.
Legal Basis (Art. 6 GDPR)
- Performance of a contract (Art. 6.1.b) — account data is processed to provide the service you registered for.
- Consent (Art. 6.1.a) — analytics and contact form messages are processed based on your voluntary use of the service and submission of the contact form.
- Legitimate interest (Art. 6.1.f) — service security and fraud prevention.
Third-Party Service Providers
We use a limited number of third-party service providers for user authentication, email delivery, and anonymised usage analytics. These providers act as data processors under GDPR and are bound by data processing agreements. Some providers are based outside the EU/EEA; in those cases, data transfers are governed by Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission under Art. 46 GDPR. We do not sell personal data to any third party.
Data Retention
- Account data — retained for as long as your account is active. Deleted within 30 days of an erasure request.
- Contact messages — retained only for as long as needed to respond to your inquiry, and no longer than 2 years.
- Scientific and molecular data — not retained (see Section 2).
Your Rights
Under GDPR and LOPDGDD you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, and port your personal data, and the right to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@moleculeidentifier.com or via the contact form. We will respond within one month (Art. 12 GDPR).
If you consider that your data has not been handled in accordance with applicable law, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Spanish supervisory authority: Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (AEPD) — www.aepd.es.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the service evolves or legal requirements change. Material changes will be communicated to registered users by email. The date at the top of this page always reflects the most recent revision.
